"Jeff Smith was a complicated fellow this documentary tackles the dilemma of duality in the human condition magnificently. Jeff's genius and generosity juxtaposed to his abuse, alcoholism and manipulation. Poignant and factual at the same time. Walks the line brilliantly. BRAVO"

"This series thoroughly detailed Smith's knowledge and talents through the years. All the people interviewed, who worked with and for him, were very interesting. All in all the outcome is the same...he was a sexual predator who groomed and assaulted many young boys, paid them off with millions, and died of his own natural causes with no criminal charges ever brought against him. Sad and shameful."
"Pretty good. Some what dry."
"I thought it was well done and interesting"
"I really enjoyed this docuseries. I watch a lot of documentaries. I was particularly interested in this one due to it's topic. I thought that there were many thought provoking moments in this series. In addition, I learned quite a bit of new information I was unaware of. It would be nice to see this series available on a popular streaming service."
"I just watched it for a second time. I'm the kind of guy who does that - I find I pick up more details when I re-watch. Anyway - this doc was excellent telling the story very thoroughly. Both sides (if there are 2 sides) were presented. It was interesting to see the apologists juxtaposed with the victim advocates and news reporters. This is a quality production worthy of major studio release. The streaming platform worked flawlessly and being able to call it up when/where I wanted to watch it: A+++ I thought the price - comparable to a smashburger and Pepsi - was very reasonable."
"It was very well done and balanced."
"Well researched and presented with a wide array of interview subjects; I especially appreciated the interviews with relevant experts about some of the dynamics of power and social contract that we see emerge throughout the story told. I agree with many reviewers that the pacing was exceptionally slow, there were a few moments that felt like they were drug out needlessly, but in spite of that I found this a strong documentary and was glad to have watched it."
"It was well done, thoughtful, told his story without bias and it was fascinating for someone who watched the show but didn’t know what happened."
"Very well done. Presented a fair view of the events that impacted Smith and his fans."
"What a phenomenal documentary! This story was told in such a balanced way. For anyone who remembers him as The Frugal Gourmet, this series gives the full story and all perspectives on it. Exceptional! Well done!"
"The series was really well made, I'd recommend it.
I actually met him once when he was out promoting one of his earlier books.
As for getting to know him, who is to say how we would have reacted when one aspect of our personality was internationally celebrated, while society repressed another major major aspect? A case could have been made that that repression contributed to his behavior.
If he had been born ten or twenty years later, there might have been no story."
